What kinds of cases or matters do you most often work on, and what makes you the right person to handle them?
With my technical background and more than 5 years of experience assessing properties for damage, I am knowledgeable and have a keen eye for the details that matter and can analyze and translate those details into a final product that accurately answers the client’s questions.
What is one assumption people commonly make in your area of expertise that’s wrong, and what’s the actual reality?
Often, the questions I get asked to answer will not provide the client with the information they need. Listening to the client and understanding what information they require narrows, refines, or completely changes their initial question and scope of our work to provide the client with a product they hired us to produce.
Tell us about a recent case or project where your specific expertise made a measurable difference to the outcome.
On a recent assignment I made several observations that were missed during previous inspections by others and I conducted additional research that led to findings that were more robust and gave the client confidence to proceed with their next steps.
Background
Ms. Erin GoVigne holds a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. She is a licensed professional engineer in the states of California, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and Florida. Ms. GoVigne has engineering and consulting experience in various industries including forensics, land development, municipal, historical building abatement and seismic retrofits, art installations, freeways, and roadways. She is especially knowledgeable in the areas of grading and earthwork, soil improvement, environmental remediation, erosion control, underground utilities, express lane toll systems, wastewater treatment facilities improvements, and roadways.
As a forensic consultant with over 5 years of experience, Ms. GoVigne evaluates and analyzes residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal site issues that arise from damage due to severe weather, water intrusion, plumbing leaks, snow loads, earthquakes, blast damage, vehicle and tree impact, fire, and construction defects. Ms.GoVigne has experience in the evaluation of roofing installations including asphalt composition shingles, built-up roofs, cedar shingles, clay and concrete tile, metal panels, single-ply membranes, spray polyurethane foam, and wood shakes; exterior cladding/structure including rock and brick veneer, masonry, plaster, stucco, metal panels, wood siding, and vinyl- and metal-framed window systems; interior finishes including ceramic/stone tile, carpet, painted/textured gypsum board, masonry, plaster, vinyl, and wood; balconies, decks, and canopies; slab on grade and raised foundation systems; basements; residenitail and commercial structures, post-framed structures, outbuildings; the general condition of structural elements; bridges, roadways, parking structures, drainage systems, site grading, and the investigation of premises liability occurrences.
