Ethan Clayton

Background

Mr. Ethan Clayton holds an M.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering and a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural engineering emphasis. Over his career, he has performed building structural design and construction administration in residential apartment and single-family projects. Mr. Clayton has performed forensic investigations, including damage assessments of residential and commercial structures related to soil issues, tree fall impact, earthquake, vehicle impact, water intrusion, wind, and hail. Mr. Clayton has investigated and evaluated building and site damage caused by hurricanes and wildfires.  Mr. Clayton has also investigated the cause and origin of concrete and masonry cracking, deflected wood flooring, damaged ceiling boards, and floor and roofing system failures.

Mr. Clayton specializes in the structural design of vertical and lateral force-resisting systems for timber-framed structures. He is experienced in designing steel moment frames, steel and timber gravity framing, roof framing, stud wall framing, and shear walls.

Mr. Clayton also has experience in performing structural designs, including post-tensioned concrete slab-on-grade foundations, concrete shallow foundation systems, seismic design of trellises and landscape structures, concrete column design, and reinforced concrete beam design.
