Background

Mr. Gregory S. Mullinax is an experienced electrical engineer and consultant specializing in electrical construction design. He is a registered professional engineer in 8 states with 23 years of experience. He is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. Mr. Mullinax has provided deposition testimony in support of technical findings in matters involving electrical engineering.

Mr. Mullinax’s professional career includes extensive experience in a wide variety of construction designs. He has implemented multiple, successful projects from the schematic phase through construction design and contract administration. His work consists of, but is not limited to, the preparation of electrical plans, specifications, plan review, shop drawing submittal review, and arc flash analysis. His designs include electrical building systems consisting of electrical service entrances, switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, bus duct risers, plug bus, panelboards, electrical feeders, transformers, underground duct banks, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), lightning protection systems, emergency generators, commercial electrical car chargers, lighting systems, and lighting controls.

His experience includes over a dozen arc flash, breaker coordination, and short circuit analyses for a variety of building types ranging from small commercial spaces, data centers, hospitals, and large industrial plants with multiple utility services.

Mr. Mullinax’s forensic engineering experience features investigating electrical equipment failures including generators; switchboards; residential and commercial wiring; appliance failures; heating, ventilation, and air condition (HVAC); well pumps; neon signs; lighting; and fire alarm systems. His work also includes experience in construction defect claims, lightning strike assessments, investigating residential and commercial fires, cellular tower fires, as well as vehicle and recreational vehicle fires.

Mr. Mullinax has experience in premises liability cases involving pedestrian walkways and parking lot and parking garage illumination.

Mr. Mullinax is a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

Mr. Mullinax is the 2016 Engineer of the Year, awarded by the Subcontractors Association of Alabama (SubAla).
