John McCoy

Background

Mr. John McCoy is a Registered Architect in the State of California with over 25 years of experience in the architectural and construction fields. Mr. McCoy brings unique, well-rounded, and in-depth knowledge and perspective to the design, building, and construction process. He began his career with a high-end residential general contracting firm in California, having 12 years of hands-on experience beginning as a Construction Laborer and rising to Project Foreman, laid a deep understanding of the construction process from inception to fruition.

Transitioning his career to architecture, he studied and trained under award-winning architects in Santa Barbara and Sausalito for more than a decade before founding his own firm. As founder and principal architect of the Sausalito-based practice, Mr. McCoy led a wide range of projects throughout California, including custom residential, hospitality, healthcare, and commercial work. Known for precise documentation, collaborative project leadership, and a 100% permit approval record across multiple jurisdictions, he has overseen projects from initial client meetings through design development, permitting, and construction administration. His deep knowledge of International and California building codes (International Building Code (IBC), California Building Code (CBC), California Residential Code (CRC), Title 24, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as well as state and local environmental design requirements, is integral to his structure and project assessments.
