Background

Mr. Justin Grammer holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering, is a registered professional engineer in multiple states, is a licensed residential home builder in the State of Alabama, and is a Certified Playground Safety Inspector. He has extensive experience in engineering design, construction, safety consulting, and forensic engineering. Mr. Grammer has provided deposition testimony in support of his technical opinions and has been qualified to offer testimony in both state and federal courts.

Mr. Grammer’s work as a forensic engineer includes work in premises liability and safety-related matters, including the evaluation of pedestrian walkways, residential and commercial properties, and public playgrounds. His work includes the design, construction, and operation and maintenance of premises for compliance with applicable building codes, property maintenance codes, voluntary consensus standards, and recognized safety practices. Since 2017, Mr. Grammer has conducted forensic investigations of accidents occurring across a wide variety of venues, evaluating code compliance, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and applicable standards of care to determine causation and assess the responsibilities of involved parties.

As a civil and structural design engineer, Mr. Grammer has analyzed both new and existing structures and has designed complete building systems from foundation through superstructure and roof. His project experience includes residential, commercial, manufacturing, and industrial facilities, utilizing a broad range of construction materials such as timber framing, light-gauge metal framing, aluminum, structural steel, concrete, and masonry.

In addition to his engineering design background, Mr. Grammer has substantial hands-on construction experience, having been involved in projects from permitting through completion in roles ranging from tradesman to project manager. His on-site experience includes the installation of building components and evaluation of construction means and methods. As a project manager, his responsibilities included estimating, scheduling, procurement, and execution, providing him with practical insight into construction practices that inform his forensic opinions.
