Background
Dr. Kakit Fung holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, an M.S. degree in Structural Engineering, and a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is also a registered professional engineer in Florida.
Dr. Fung has experience with structural design in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures. He is experienced in the utilization and implementation of design standards and codes. He has worked on Florida Department of Transportation projects such as truss designs to support interstate dynamic message signs and rest area buildings.
In addition to his design experience, Dr. Fung assisted in structural retrofits and assessments of distressed buildings using his proficiency of computer-aided programs, such as RISA-3D, coupled with his experience and education to determine a cause and cost-effective solution. To further develop his analytical skills, Dr. Fung pursued a Ph.D. focused on injury mechanics of elderly drivers in vehicular crashes using finite element analysis.
Since joining Rimkus, Dr. Fung has focused on residential and commercial building envelope investigations such as moisture intrusions, roof inspections, and floor distress evaluations. He performs inspections and cause and origin analysis of storm-related damage, water damage, construction defects, and structural design deficiencies.
Additionally, he has performed structural assessments of distressed and damaged buildings and provided remedial recommendations.
