Kevin Layman, P.E.

Background

Mr. Kevin Layman holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a specialization in structural engineering.  He has over 11 years of consulting engineering experience in structural design, analysis, evaluation, inspections, and construction management and is a licensed professional engineer in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas.  Mr. Layman performs building code compliance assessments in relation to personal injury claims.

Mr. Layman’s experience prior to joining Rimkus includes structural analysis, design, construction management, and inspections, as well as other engineering services for building and nonbuilding structures, for the residential and transportation industries. His design experience includes new construction and rehabilitation projects utilizing timber, steel, and concrete.

As a forensic engineer, Mr. Layman has investigated and evaluated residential, industrial, religious, and municipal properties to determine the cause, origin, and effect of civil and structural concerns, including evaluations of roof systems, building envelopes, windows, foundations, floor coverings, wall claddings, timber bridges, boat docks, and swimming pools. Mr. Layman has experience in structural damage assessments from a variety of reported incidences including accidents, vehicle impacts, tree impacts, fires, flood, hurricanes, tornados, storms, water/moisture intrusion, and construction-related defects. He has provided consulting services concerning structural and property damage evaluation, failure causation, construction defects, code compliance, and repairs/remediation for structures. He has also performed premises liability investigations for trip and falls.
