Khattab K. Al Amin, P.E.

Background

Mr. Khattab Al Amin is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Alabama. He is experienced in construction services and project management with a background in civil/structural engineering in the commercial, industrial, and federal sectors, where he specialized in design, analysis, and failure analysis.

As a structural engineer, Mr. Al Amin’s design and analysis experience included project management, design of industrial support structures, superstructures, retaining structures, and shallow and deep foundations using structural analysis software. His experience as a structural engineer also included the management and coordination of BIM modeling utilizing Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD. His projects included commercial office buildings, industrial facilities, mechanical and electrical equipment support, and maintenance and safety platforms. Mr. Al Amin’s experience has encompassed projects with nearly every building material, including timber framing, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and plain and reinforced masonry.

Mr. Al Amin’s experience as a construction project manager included cost estimating, contract management, material procurement, coordination of material delivery, coordination of shop drawings and submittals, and project oversight. The projects he managed were in the industrial and federal sectors and included additions to industrial manufacturing facilities, shop fabrication and installation of structural steel platforms and mezzanines, and the renovations of federal office buildings.

Mr. Al Amin’s work in the field of forensic engineering includes the evaluation of residential and commercial properties and structures. Representative investigations have included the determination of the origin and cause of failures and other performance-related issues in vertical and lateral load-carrying systems (structural framing members), roof coverings, exterior claddings, and foundation systems.
