Fire Investigation Technician

Background
Graduating from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), Mr. Lane Eggleston achieved a B.S. in Fire, Arson, and Explosion Investigation. During his time at EKU, he studied course material in areas such as fire behavior, building construction, fire chemistry, fire dynamics, hazmat operations, explosion dynamics, scene analysis, forensic investigations, failure analysis, criminal investigations, and trial testimony and was a member of the association of fire science technicians, which aids him in investigations as a certified Fire Investigation Technician.
Mr. Eggleston conducted a total of eight known-origin fire investigations and one explosion investigation at EKU, where he correctly identified the origins and causes. He has investigated the origin and cause of over 90 fires in various areas, including commercial structures, multi-family and single-structure residential, commercial and passenger vehicles, and heavy equipment.
Mr. Eggleston served as an analyst and fire investigative intern for the Columbus Division of Fire’s Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit. During his time with the Arson Bureau, Mr. Eggleston helped conduct criminal investigations of suspected arson offenders in Columbus, Ohio. He worked with the county prosecutor to prosecute arson offenders. He also worked in the minor fire-setter program, to inform children of the dangers of playing with fire.
Mr. Eggleston is a certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators, as well as a certified Evidence Collection Technician and Fire Investigation Technician through the International Association of Arson Investigators. Mr. Eggleston is an active member of both organizations.
