Background

Mr. Michael Carr holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in six states.  He has an extensive background in facilities planning, design, and construction.  His expertise spans structural, building envelope, site design, and utility system analysis, with experience ranging from expeditionary engineering to overseeing large-scale campus designs.  He has managed construction administration and contract management for diverse projects, including heavy civil, commercial, industrial, medical, educational, and residential construction within the military/federal enterprise.

Mr. Carr’s work in the field of forensic engineering includes the inspection and analysis of failures in civil/structural engineering-related matters for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings and structures.  He has provided consultation to insurance professionals, design professionals, contractors, attorneys, building officials, and property owners.  Representative investigations include structural damage from storm, fire, and vehicle impact; building settlement and/or collapse; roof system failures; building envelope and cladding system deficiencies; wind versus surge damage categorization; wood rot and deterioration; wood-destroying insect damage; site stormwater management system failures; construction defects; and building code compliance.  Mr. Carr has been retained as a consulting engineer and/or designated as an engineering expert witness on over 80 legal cases and has provided expert testimony under oath in over 15 cases, including trial testimony.
