Background

Mr. Patrick (Pat) Churchman is a building construction expert with over a decade of experience spanning architecture and construction management. He holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Architecture and has designed, drafted, and constructed a wide range of commercial and residential projects. His combined background in architectural design and hands-on construction enables him to identify and analyze the design, construction, and materials aspects of buildings and identify discrepancies between design intent and execution, and failures in means and methods.  His knowledge of design and construction also enables him to assess the cause and extent of damage to structures from unexpected events and differentiate that from normal wear and tear and deficient construction.

In addition to holding management roles with an AGC-affiliated national general contracting firm and owning and operating his own design-build company, Mr. Churchman designed, developed, and patented a method for laser-engraving floor plans onto wood subfloors. This innovation earned recognition from the Idaho Technology Council, Forbes, Boise State University, and the University of Idaho, as well as awards from the International Builders Show, Boise State Venture College, and Trailhead Boise. His design and fabrication work has also received awards from Engineering News-Record (ENR), nominations from the Idaho Business Review, and coverage in both local and national publications.

Mr. Churchman has been nominated for the Cade Prize for Inventivity and the Peregrine Innovative Technology Award presented by the Idaho Technology Council. He has appeared as a guest on the Reality Capture Network (RCN) podcast and has served as a guest lecturer for Boise State University’s Construction Management program, the Yosemite Chapter of the International Code Council (YICC), and the International Housing Association (IHA). He is also a member of the Idaho National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Recently, Mr. Churchman has specialized in interior architecture with an emphasis on code compliance, constructability, and best practices for complex, high-value installations, including custom finishes, artwork, feature walls, and other non-typical assemblies that require technically challenging, project-specific solutions. He has broad experience across multiple building typologies, with extensive knowledge of single- and multi-family residential, low-rise commercial, and storage facility construction, informed by both design and field execution roles.
