Ryan J. Nelson, P.E., M.B.A.

Background

Mr. Nelson holds a B.S. in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.  He is a registered professional engineer in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.  He has over 15 years of extensive background in geotechnical engineering, construction, interior renovations and remodeling, building condition assessments, building operations, and national multi-facility maintenance.  Mr. Nelson has experience in geotechnical engineering design, specialty construction, site development, building construction and commissioning, and building envelope evaluation.

As a civil engineer, Mr. Nelson’s areas of expertise include design-build of specialty deep foundations, support of excavation, earth retention systems, ground improvement, post-tensioning, BIM modeling, building commissioning, interior finishes, construction project management, and leadership.  His projects included deep excavation oversight, heavy civil construction, marine construction, commercial office and retail buildings, healthcare facilities, mixed-use facilities, installation and maintenance of stormwater management best practices, vibration monitoring, and municipal buildings.  Mr. Nelson’s experience has encompassed projects across the majority of North America with nearly every building material and construction method, including wood and timber, light-gauge steel, aluminum, structural steel, post-tensioned reinforced concrete, strand anchors, and several methods of grouting.

Since joining Rimkus in 2023, Mr. Nelson has performed or assisted in more than 175 engineering investigations for law firms, insurance companies, construction firms, and property owners.  Mr. Nelson’s work in the field of forensics includes the analysis of failures or other performance problems in civil/structural engineering applications and evaluation of alleged design and construction defects.
