Background
Mr. Ryan Moy is a Mechanical Engineer and licensed Professional Engineer (including New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, and Maine). Mr. Moy has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Certificate of Aerospace Engineering from Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey.
Mr. Moy specializes in the investigation and analysis of mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and building utility system failures. His experience includes evaluation of water damage losses, piping failures, fire suppression system performance, equipment malfunctions, code compliance issues, construction defects, and disputes involving building systems. He applies over 20 years of engineering, design, and construction experience to determine root cause, assess standard of care, and provide clear technical opinions for insurance carriers, attorneys, property owners, and commercial clients.
He has extensive experience evaluating, designing, and coordinating plumbing and fire protection systems for a broad range of low-rise and high-rise buildings. His work includes condition assessments, system due diligence, renovation and modernization projects, and new construction, including complex developments such as a Manhattan residential tower exceeding 700 feet in height. Plumbing experience includes complex water, gas, drainage, and water reuse systems. Areas of expertise include multi-zone domestic water distribution, hot water generation and recirculation, heat pump and solar thermal water heating systems, natural gas and propane distribution, grease waste and interceptor systems, stormwater management and detention, rooftop and in-building stormwater retention, greywater and rainwater reuse, and both conventional and Sovent sanitary drainage systems. His fire protection experience includes wet-pipe sprinkler, standpipe, dry-pipe, and pre-action sprinkler systems; foam-water standpipe systems; clean agent gaseous suppression systems; and nitrogen-water mist fire suppression systems. Additional system expertise includes fire pumps, gravity water storage tanks, and associated control systems serving both ground-level and rooftop water storage installations.
Mr. Moy’s project management experience encompasses all phases of project delivery, from pre-construction planning and engineering design through multidisciplinary coordination, construction administration, commissioning support, post-occupancy evaluation, and operational troubleshooting. He has significant experience with high-performance buildings, overseeing projects designed to meet ambitious sustainability and energy performance objectives. Notable experience includes four LEED Gold residential towers in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, ranging from 5 to 26 stories and incorporating graywater reuse and solar thermal hot water systems. As Department Head of Plumbing & Fire Protection at Petersen Engineering, he supervised the design and administration of more than 50 multifamily Passive House developments while coordinating the efforts of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design teams.
