
Background
Mr. Scott Richardson is an accredited Accident Reconstructionist with the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR #1958) with over 27 years of accident investigation and reconstruction experience.
He graduated from Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in elementary education and taught 5th grade to entering law enforcement. He worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol (1997-2025) where his duties consisted of general road patrol, accident investigation, and vehicle and boating accident reconstruction. He was also an Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor for the Missouri State Highway Patrol for 8 years.
Mr. Richardson was a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Major Crash Investigation Unit for over 18 years and conducted or assisted in thousands of crash investigations and reconstructions. Those crashes involved automobiles, motorcycles, pedestrians, bicycles, ATVs, UTVs, commercial motor vehicles, and farm machinery. In 2013, he completed the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) basic and advanced boating accident investigation courses. Since the completion of those courses, he has investigated recreational boating crashes involving boats and personal watercraft. Mr. Richardson is also certified in imaging, preserving, and analyzing data contained in a vehicle’s event data recorder.
