Background
Mr. Trevor Thuett is a licensed professional engineer in Texas and has more than 25 years of diversified building engineering, including electric utility, natural gas distribution, and agricultural experience.
He has worked as an engineering manager; a project manager; a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) project engineer; a manufacturer’s application engineer; and an agricultural producer.
Mr. Thuett’s areas of expertise include engineering design of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC); clean-room and computer room HVAC design; plumbing; steam; compressed air; electrical; fire protection; industrial ventilation; electric power generation balance of plant; and natural gas distribution. Other expertise includes code compliance for engineering activities, specification development, wind farmland leasing negotiations, land title review, and HVAC equipment start-up.
As a forensic engineer, Mr. Thuett specializes in identifying mechanical and plumbing systems and other design and construction defects that can result in problems with the occupied environment. He is experienced with failure investigations for mechanical and plumbing equipment, industrial equipment, and vehicle mechanical systems from direct examination of failed items. He also has experience evaluating consumer products and appliance failures, including coffee makers, water heaters, dishwashers, plumbing faucets, and pool equipment. Mr. Thuett has also analyzed issues involving various mechanical components (steel and plastic pipes, fittings, and valves) and industrial equipment (boilers, pumps, and chillers).
Mr. Thuett has examined numerous HVAC (condensing units, air handling units, chillers, furnaces, controls components, and condensate drain pipe), plumbing (underground sewer and DWV piping, PVC fittings, PEX piping and fittings, press fittings, and expansion tanks), and fire protection system failures (pipe corrosion, CPVC fittings, dry valves and trim components, riser pipe, and sprinkler pendants).
Mr. Thuett has investigated incidents involving vehicle engine failures, as well as fire and explosions involving gas-fired burners, grills, and gas plumbing leaks.
