Background

Mr. Douglas McLendon holds a B.S degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia. He has over 11 years of experience in the field of structural engineering, including extensive design and inspection experience.

Mr. McLendon’s professional design experience includes structural design, engineering assessment, analysis, project management, owners’ representation, and design review. This experience includes new design, repair design, and retrofit design. Specific structural design experience includes projects in waterfront structures, crane equipment, residential, commercial, historic buildings, industrial, manufacturing, public use, and bulk material handling.

His field experience includes inspection of a variety of types and locations. He has extensive experience in bridge inspection per the standards of the Federal Highway Administration as a certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader. He has inspected port facilities and equipment, including waterfront structures, port cranes (including rail mounted and rubber tyred), conveyance and supporting structures, ancillary crane structures, and other on-site facilities. He has inspected existing residential, commercial, manufacturing, and historic structures.

As a forensic engineer, he has experience with damage related to storm events and fires, as well as evaluation of foundation failures, structural deficiencies, structural impact damage, building envelope deficiencies, roofing system damage and failures, and interior floor, ceiling, and wall finish failures.
