Background
Mr. Zane Peterson holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and M.S. Degree in Structural/Civil Engineering, and is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina and South Carolina. He has experience in various areas of practice, including civil and structural design, inspection, analysis, design, and repair of residential, commercial, and critical infrastructure assets; construction administration of residential and commercial facilities; and construction administration and construction defect investigation.
Mr. Peterson has extensive experience regarding construction defect analysis, structural defect analysis, and temporary or permanent repair. His work has included evaluations and analysis of failures or other performance issues in structural applications, building envelope systems, components and cladding, and building materials due to design and/or construction defects, manufacturing defects, and code compliance issues. Mr. Peterson has performed forensic evaluations and analyses on failures and performance issues due to storm or catastrophe incidents, tree or vehicle impacts, vibration, and fires. Additionally, Mr. Peterson has investigated and designed numerous different access and walking surfaces for ADA accessibility, walkway safety standards, and building code compliance.
As a civil/structural design engineer, Mr. Peterson’s experience has included the analysis and design of existing and new structures, including bridges, piers, wharves, marine facilities, military facilities, earth retaining systems, swimming pools, and single-family, multi-family, religious, commercial, and hospitality buildings from the foundation through superstructure and roof. Clients for this design work included developers, architects, property owners, contractors, and government entities. These projects encompassed multiple common building materials such as engineered wood, sawn wood and timber, light-gauge metal, structural steel, insulated concrete forms, concrete, and masonry. Much of Mr. Peterson’s experience also involved high wind and seismic design and coastal, flood-zone construction.
