BACKGROUND:

Jimmy Monahan, P.E., is an accomplished engineering professional with over 12 years of experience specializing in building envelope consulting, project management, and structural engineering. As the Structural Engineering Practice Leader, Mr. Monahan oversees capital projects related to Local Law 11/FISP and roof restoration for 171 buildings in the Bronx, New York, for two major clients. His expertise includes performing compliance inspections, developing comprehensive repair designs, and managing projects with construction costs ranging from $5 to 15 million annually. Prior to Rimkus, Mr. Monahan worked as a structural engineer focusing on the design of load-bearing structures composed of steel, concrete, and masonry. Such structures include commercial buildings, residential high-rises, freestanding walls, retaining walls, dunnage support, equipment supports, platforms, foundations, and braced frames.

Mr. Monahan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural Engineering with a concentration in structural, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Design and Construction. He is a qualified exterior wall inspector (QEWI) and a qualified parking structure inspector (QPSI) in New York City, as well as a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Texas, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.

Throughout his career, Mr. Monahan has demonstrated his ability to deliver successful projects on budget and on schedule while maintaining strong communication with clients and contractors. He is skilled in facade and roof inspections, leak investigations, project management, construction administration, and client coordination. Mr. Monahan is an active member of the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) and the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).

Looking ahead, Mr. Monahan is committed to growing the built environment solutions practice in New York and expanding into multiple markets across the country. He is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders on his team and plans to obtain certifications such as Qualified Retaining Wall Inspector (QRWI) and Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) to further enhance his expertise. Mr. Monahan’s vision includes creating an environment that fosters high retention rates among team members to maintain a competitive edge in the industry.
