Mr. Andrew Steinmetz holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama and is a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states. Mr. Steinmetz is experienced in construction materials testing, geotechnical exploration and analysis, foundation design, project management, and engineering forensics.
Mr. Steinmetz has extensive experience in the design of mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) and reinforced soil slope (RSS) structures, slope stability analysis, and construction materials testing involving concrete, structural steel, masonry, soils, aggregates, and asphalt in both field and laboratory applications in the industrial, commercial, residential, educational, and transportation sectors. His investigative experience includes the assessment of foundation systems and building envelopes and components.
Mr. Steinmetz’s professional work experiences cover a broad array of building types including residential structures, high-rise condominium structures, commercial retail facilities, commercial office buildings, warehouse facilities, educational buildings, and transportation-related structures.
As a forensic engineer, Mr. Steinmetz performs inspections and cause and origin analysis of storm-related damage, structural fire damage, water damage, construction defects, structural design defects, and building code and ADA accessibility code compliance. These inspections and analyses encompass commercial, residential, civic, religious, hospitality, and multi-residential building types and include floor failures, building settlement and/or collapse, geotechnical investigations, moisture intrusions, wall and roof system failures, building envelope and cladding system deficiencies and failures, fenestration component deficiencies and failures, termite/wood-boring insect damage, and pedestrian falls. He has provided consultation to insurance professionals, contractors, attorneys, developers, and property owners concerning structural and property damage evaluation, failure causation, construction defects, code compliance, and repairs/remediation for structures.
