Background
Mr. William Casey holds a B.A.S. degree in Computer Studies and is an Accredited Accident Reconstructionist through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR# 3139). Mr. Casey started in 2004 as a Patrol Officer with the Burbank Police Department and currently holds the position of Deputy Chief. He has also served as an evidence technician, detective, sergeant, and lieutenant with the Burbank Police Department.
From 2010 to 2019, Mr. Casey was assigned to the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (S.M.A.R.T.) and held the positions of Team Leader and Commander. The S.M.A.R.T. is a multi-jurisdictional accident reconstruction team that consists of approximately 40 Chicagoland-area law enforcement agencies. While assigned to the S.M.A.R.T., he investigated hundreds of serious and fatal traffic collisions that involved motor vehicles, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and pedestrians.
Mr. Casey’s areas of expertise include motor vehicle crash reconstruction, motorcycle crash reconstruction, pedestrian/bicycle crash reconstruction, commercial vehicle crash reconstruction, and event data recorder (EDR) imaging and analysis. He has experience and training in crash scene mapping using a total station and hand measurements.
