Background

With a B.S. in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University, Mr. Wayne Deming is a registered professional engineer in California, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Mexico, South Carolina, and Texas. He has built a 30+-year career in the construction industry working in varied markets including residential, commercial, industrial, military, educational, healthcare, entertainment, and zoological sectors.

Specifically, Mr. Deming’s experience has focused on structural analysis and design of wood, reinforced concrete, reinforced and unreinforced concrete masonry, structural steel, and cold-formed steel buildings, bridges, and utility structures. Throughout his career, he has produced construction documents, written and edited specifications, and performed structural analysis and design, project management, scheduling, construction administration, cost estimating, and budget control. He has also implemented quality control procedures, completed forensic field investigations, supervised project teams, and mentored and trained staff. Mr. Deming has also provided estimating support for new construction and renovations. Mr. Deming is experienced in the application of multiple industry standards and specifications including the International Building Code, California Building Code, ASCE 07 (for seismic and wind loads), ACI (concrete structures), PCI (pre-cast concrete structures), TMS 402/ACI 530 (masonry), AISC (steel structures), SJI (steel joists), SDI (steel decks), and NDS (wood structures).

Mr. Deming has investigated and evaluated building and site damage caused by earthquakes and seismic disturbances, subsidence, settlement, landslides, mudslides, volcanoes, soil erosion and scour, fires, straight-line winds, floods, hailstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, mechanical forces, construction vibrations, vehicle and tree impacts, plumbing leaks, and construction defects. Mr. Deming has investigated the cause and origin of concrete and masonry cracking, retaining wall failures, dock and pier failures, floor and roofing system failures, and moisture intrusions through building envelopes. He has prepared structural calculations for buildings, retaining walls, bridges, and utility structures; and cost estimating support for new construction and renovations.
