Background
Dr. Eric Shaver holds a B.S. in Psychology and a M.S. in Human Factors Psychology from the University of Idaho and a Ph.D. in Ergonomics Psychology from North Carolina State University. His graduate work focused on risk perception, risk compensation, and behavioral compliance to safety information in various forms.
Prior to joining Rimkus, Dr. Shaver was employed at Eurofins Human Factors MD as a Senior Technical Director where he oversaw all human factors activities throughout the medical device and combination product development life cycle. This included participating in ideation sessions, understanding users’ needs, creating design requirements, developing use-related risk analyses, providing input on early prototypes, developing device labeling, leading formative studies and human factors validation testing, conducting postmarket surveillance, and performing expert reviews.
Previously, Dr. Shaver was the Human Factors Lead at FUJIFILM Sonosite where he oversaw all human factors efforts across multiple medical device product lines. He has also worked as a consultant to a variety of industries where he specialized in the design and evaluation of safety information, litigation support and expert witness testimony, organizational behavior, and training development and presentation on safety and human factors-related topics.
