Background
Chris is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with 24 years of experience in the construction industry, starting as a site Quantity Surveyor before moving into consultancy, dispute resolution, and expert witness and advisory work. Chris has worked for contractors, sub-contractors, consultants, public authorities, developers, and employers. Chris continues to provide contract, project, and commercial management support to live projects, supplementing his Expert work. Chris is the Managing Director for Quantum across our EMEA region, managing a team of consultants and associates.
Chris has been appointed as quantum expert on numerous occasions dealing with complex quantum issues both domestically and internationally. Chris has acquired knowledge and experience across all major formats of dispute resolution, including UK statutory adjudication, litigation, international arbitration and mediation across all major sectors, such as residential, commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, water, energy, marine and infrastructure. Chris has assisted in the resolution of disputes alongside large multi-disciplined litigation teams under direction from counsel, through to individual appointments requiring concise and robust expert witness reporting and opinion. Chris has the ability to swiftly distil and dissect complex and voluminous issues into concise expert reports and to identify all potential heads of claim, including reference to established principles and law. Chris provides independent expert advice in without prejudice submissions, briefing notes, expert joint statements, expert reports, valuations, and large data presentations. Chris works closely with our delay and technical experts providing integrated services and peer reviewing other experts’ reports. Chris serves on the CIArb Northwest branch committee.
Chris has extensive knowledge of the NEC3&4 and JCT, forms of contract and a wide experience of IChemE, ICE, PFI, FIDIC and numerous bespoke forms of contract, including Professional Service Agreements.
