Darci Stumph, ACTAR

Background

Ms. Darci Stumph is an accredited accident reconstructionist by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR). She served with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (CA) for 24 years. She dedicated over 20 of those years to the South Operations Patrol Division where she responded to and investigated thousands of fatal, injury, and non-injury traffic accidents as a Sheriff’s Community Services Officer. Ms. Stumph also assisted other Sheriffs Community Services Officers and Deputy Sheriffs with scene documentation, interviews, and determination of fault on hundreds of traffic accidents.

Ms. Stumph was a member of the Orange County Sheriff Department’s Major Accident Reconstruction Team (MART). As a member of this elite team, she was on-call and would respond to fatal and major injury traffic accidents that occurred within any of the department’s 13 contract cities. As a member of the MART, she would conduct interviews, scene inspections, and vehicle inspections with Event Data Recorder (EDR) downloads.

Ms. Stumph was also a certified Field Training Officer and was tasked with training new Sheriffs Community Services Officers on the various aspects of accident investigations, documentation, and officer safety practices. Her knowledge and experience of traffic accident investigation qualified her to become an Adjunct Instructor for the Rancho Santiago Community College District. There, Ms. Stumph teaches new officers tire mark identification, documentation, and analysis as well as scene documentation for the Basic Traffic Collision Investigation course.
