Background

Mr. Joseph D. (Jody) Gaskin holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in multiple states.

Mr. Gaskin has civil and structural engineering design experience in the areas of residential, light commercial, municipal, and industrial structures. He has designed stormwater management systems for residential and light commercial site developments. He has also provided design, analysis, consultation, and construction administration services for potable water distribution and storage facilities, sanitary sewer collection and distribution systems, and wastewater treatment facilities. Structural design experience includes evaluation of structural requirements, structural analysis, preparation of plans and specifications, report preparation, contract administration, and construction observations. He has designed residential and light commercial structures with various building materials, including conventional wood framing, heavy timber, aluminum, structural steel, light-gauge metal, reinforced masonry, insulated concrete forms (ICF), and reinforced concrete. Preparation of project plans and specifications to incorporate gravity and lateral resisting elements for wind and seismic loading conditions in accordance with various building codes were parts of the structural design work performed.

Mr. Gaskin’s forensic experience includes performing evaluations for the purpose of identifying design, construction, and civil/structural deficiencies. His work in forensics also includes analysis of failures to identify the cause, origin, and extent of damage on structures and civil/site infrastructure resulting from weather events, impact loading conditions, and stormwater flooding. Additionally, he also has conducted evaluations for compliance with building code and industry standards related to premises liability matters. Evaluations and assessments are performed on building envelopes, foundations, structural framing, and stormwater management systems during various phases of construction. His forensic experience also includes the assessment of project plans and specifications, industry standards, product manufacturer information, and building code compliance research for civil/structural engineering applications.
