Background
A stainless-steel tanker truck was leased for the purpose of hauling a specific fluid used in the oil and gas industry. The fluid was reportedly compatible with stainless steel. Following several trips to the rigs, the tanker truck was emptied and cleaned. When the cleaning crew entered the tanker truck, they discovered that the internal surface of the tanker was severely corroded. An insurance claim was submitted to cover the loss.
Services Provided
Rimkus was retained to review the shipping manifests to determine if and when a chemical entered the tanker truck that caused the corrosion. After review of the manifests for the current and previous lessees, it was determined that an incompatible fluid was hauled by the previous lessee.
