Background

Mr. Myron Rummel holds an MBA and a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. He is a registered professional engineer in Virginia and Alabama.

His professional career includes broad experience in electric utility distribution and transmission systems, including transmission protection coordination, maintenance, operation, and construction; substation construction, maintenance, and operations; distribution system protection coordination, operations, and maintenance; and senior-level management positions.

Mr. Rummel has served as Manager of Engineering, Vice President of Engineering and Operations, and Chief Executive Officer of Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) in Mt. Crawford, Virginia. SVEC is an electric distribution cooperative serving more than 97,000 consumer accounts with industrial accounts as large as 14 MVA. The cooperative operates more than 8,100 miles of overhead and underground electric distribution line. Mr. Rummel, as CEO of Shenandoah Valley Electrical Cooperative, was responsible for the review, evaluation, securing financing, and bidding process of the largest acquisition of an investor-owned electrical plant by a cooperative in the USA. This acquisition included the transmission, distribution, real estate, equipment, and employees of the investor-owned utility in the area of the acquisition. He has also served as a Board Member and officer of Old Dominion Electric Cooperative in Richmond, Virginia, and as a board member of ACES energy management company in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Mr. Rummel’s experience includes projects related to transmission lines, distribution substations, automated meter-reading equipment, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems for electric utility system operations. It also includes studies to ensure public safety, provide system protection, improve reliability, predict load growth, develop facility financing, and ensure compliance with USDA Rural Utilities Service, NESC, and NEC standards.

As a forensic consultant, his responsibilities are diverse. Some of his recent representative engagements include investigating the cause of component failures in electronic scoreboards at two different sporting venues; investigating the cause of electrical equipment failures at a recreational park after a hurricane; investigating the cause of failure of substation monitoring equipment on an electric substation power transformer; evaluation of the damage to the electrical facilities in a hotel after a tornado; investigating the cause of injury to an employee from an industrial electrical heater; investigating and evaluating the extent of damage to the electrical facilities caused by fire at a regional automobile repair and storage facility; investigating the cause of fire involving golf carts at a repair facility; investigating and determining the cause of damage to underground electric cable and runway and taxiway lighting at a commercial airport; reviewing the design documents of high voltage transmission facilities for proper ground clearances after contact with farming equipment; and determining and investigating the cause of damage to residential homes from weather-related activities.
