Background

Dr. David Frey is a Human Factors Associate Consultant. He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology with academic training in psychological anthropology and developmental and cognitive psychology.

Dr. Frey provides human factors consulting relating to accidents, injuries, and usability. Dr. Frey has assisted in evaluating human factors such as driver/operator behavior, perception and response, visibility and conspicuity, attention, distraction, cognitive load, risk assessment, and decision-making.

Dr. Frey’s doctoral dissertation focused on moral judgments, rhetorics, and values within prominent sovereign citizen movements at Bunkerville, Nevada, and Malheur, Oregon. Dr. Frey’s undergraduate and graduate education focused on qualitative and quantitative approaches to understanding and explaining human behavior related to values, motives, norms, and culture. He studied cognition, sensation, perception, ethnographic methodologies, motivation, emotion, social norms, values, and moral reasoning. Dr. Frey’s interests are understanding the “what” and exploring the “why” of human behaviors. He has facilitated and participated in various ethnographic projects internationally. During his education, Dr. Frey particularly enjoyed participating in the education of undergraduate students through instructorships, teaching courses in general psychology, sociocultural anthropology, social and personality psychology, and developmental psychology.
