Based in London, Ana brings over 25 years of experience analysing human movement and injury causation across a wide range of scenarios.
She has written expert reports and testified in courts in both the United Kingdom and the United States for more than a decade.
In her research, she has conducted biomechanical analyses on human subjects, tissue specimens, and human surrogates. She has also used mathematical modelling and built physical devices to support experimental setups.
Ana specialises in vehicle collision investigation, injury causation and consistency analysis, and the assessment of injury mechanisms and contributing factors. Her expertise centres on impact biomechanics in automotive environments, including seatbelt use, bicycle and motorcycle helmets, child car seats, pedestrian impacts, and low‑speed collisions. She also has extensive experience with falls from height and slip, trip, and fall cases.
Ana will continue providing expert reports and court appearances throughout the UK and wider EMEA region. She will also lead our new Life Sciences offering in EMEA.
Key Areas of Expertise
Collision investigation
Ana excels in reconstructing accidents to determine the cause and mechanics of injuries, providing critical insights into the sequence of events that led to the incident. She has experience in modelling the behaviour of vehicle occupants during impacts, with a particular focus on spinal and lower extremities injuries. Her research has provided valuable insights into injury patterns, occupant kinematics, and potential injury mitigations.
Seatbelt and helmet analysis
Ana has significant expertise in the biomechanical evaluation of head, spinal, and lower-limb injuries. Her in-depth knowledge of biomechanics enables her to determine the specific mechanisms that lead to these injuries, thereby identifying factors contributing to a particular pattern of injury in fractures and soft-tissue injuries. She can assess how these injuries would have been different if a seat or a helmet had been worn.
Personal Injury
Ana’s expertise in biomechanics enables her to assess the severity and cause of injuries sustained in various scenarios, including falls from height, impacts from falling objects, and trips and slips. This allows for clear evidence-based opinions in personal injury cases.
