About our participation

Rod Rennison, Senior Vice President, Global Energy Services, will moderate a panel discussion titled “The Trump Effect and ‘Drill Baby, Drill’”. This session will examine how a potential return of President Trump to the White House is influencing global energy discourse.

Scheduled from 10:50 AM to 11:30 AM, Rod will be joined by an esteemed panel of energy experts:

John Colquhoun, Rimkus Director of Forensic and Fire Investigations, will also deliver a presentation on the Moss Landing Battery Fire in California. His talk will focus on the causes of the incident and proactive steps insurers can take to mitigate similar risks in the future. John’s session is scheduled for 3:10 PM to 3:30 PM.

Roderick Rennison, CEng MICE, P.E., CSP

Mr. Roderick Rennison holds an MA with an emphasis in civil and structural engineering from Cambridge University. He is a professional engineer licensed in the United States (US) and United Kingdom (UK) with over 30 years of experience in civil and structural engineering, power generation, telecommunications, and commercial real estate, with proficiency in forensic investigations, structural design, facilities management, contract negotiation, business startup and management, performance and quality management, and health and safety management. Mr. Rennison is also a Certified Safety Professional.

Mr. Rennison has worked for medium and large engineering and forensic consulting firms and also founded his own highly successful civil and structural engineering consulting firm. He has performed many traditional engineering functions, ranging from project planning through detailed engineering design, construction management, failure analysis, and provision of expert testimony.

He has negotiated and secured contracts with some of the world’s most prestigious companies and conducted research into construction industry best practices in the US and UK at one of the world’s premier research facilities.

Director - Forensic and Accident Investigations

John is a Chartered Engineer and leading expert in forensic and accident investigations across the global telecommunications, power, and energy sectors, including generation, storage, and distribution. Renowned for his specialist knowledge in fire investigations, engineering failures, and personal injury analysis, John has consistently delivered critical forensic analyses to uncover root causes of failures spanning energy, infrastructure, workplace accidents, and digital technology. He is an expert in wind, hydro, solar, battery storage, and nuclear power generation incidents, providing comprehensive assessments of complex engineering challenges.

John has produced numerous CPR-compliant reports and presented expert evidence in high-profile legal proceedings, including the Royal Courts of Justice, Scottish Sheriff Courts, Fatal Accident Inquiries, and the Institute of Civil Engineering Arbitration. His experience extends to managing full project lifecycles, tower climbing, rescue operations, RF awareness, and the safe use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs). GWO-certified and WINDA-registered for onshore and offshore wind turbine access, John is uniquely equipped to handle the demands of tall structure investigations.

With a background in electrical and electronic engineering, John is recognised as a Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council and European Engineer by FEANI.
