Background
Hamza Chohan is part of Rimkus’s Global Expert Services, specialising in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Hamza is a Building Services Engineer with over 13 years’ experience in the construction industry, combining practical mechanical building services design with extensive expert-witness experience in MEP and passive fire protection disputes.
Hamza has worked on disputes and advisory commissions across the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia, involving technical breaches, design deficiencies, workmanship issues, defects, engineering failures, and matters relating to delay and quantum. His work spans the full lifecycle of expert appointments, from initial technical investigation and site inspection through report preparation, expert meetings, joint statements, and arbitration hearings.
His casework includes leading the MEP technical investigation on a major luxury hotel development dispute in London, working alongside the client’s delay expert to provide MEP technical analysis across multiple delay windows, and supporting a major train network dispute in Qatar involving MEP design and coordination. Hamza also led the technical reporting process for a post-Grenfell fire safety review of over 30 residential developments for a major UK housing developer, developing report templates and standardising reporting methodology across the programme.
Before specialising in dispute resolution, Hamza worked as a mechanical design engineer delivering building services projects across the healthcare, commercial, residential, and education sectors. This practical design experience, spanning HVAC, drainage, district heating, and passive fire protection systems, establishes his technical credibility on engineering and construction disputes, giving him the insight of a practising building services engineer when identifying design deficiencies and engineering failures.
