Background

Mr. Jason Walden is a seasoned construction and development expert with over 25 years of experience in construction project management, preconstruction and estimating, construction contracts, project planning and construction means and methods, development risk assessment, and claims negotiation. Mr. Walden studied Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Construction Management at North Carolina State University, receiving his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1997.

Mr. Walden’s responsibilities at Rimkus include management of its Construction and Development Advisory Services group, which provides cost estimating, project management, owner’s representation, construction monitoring, development risk assessment and advisory services, claims negotiation, and expert witness services. In addition to these duties, Mr. Walden is also responsible for the overall management of the former Commercial Construction Consulting, LLC, one of the largest internal groups at Rimkus, including business development, financial reporting, strategic planning, and budget oversight. This includes, but is not limited to, MEPFP Design, Tenant Improvement Design, Code Advisory Services, Vertical Transport, Building Enclosures, Commissioning, Sustainability, ESG, and Due Diligence.

Mr. Walden spent a substantial portion of his early career working for a large international construction management firm and served in many roles including national program director and project executive, having managed large ground-up construction projects, interior renovations, and projects of varying sizes along the way. Mr. Walden has experience in a wide variety of construction types, including commercial office, multi-family, industrial, corporate interiors, research and development, retail, banking and financial, education, and government facilities. With this unique and diverse blend of project experience, Mr. Walden provides valuable services to clients whether seeking to invest in new large-scale multi-use developments in urban markets or seeking to expand a rural manufacturing facility to meet the needs of a growing business. From providing owner’s project management (OPM) services, to negotiating contract change orders, providing expert testimony related to construction costs and schedule claims, to assessing real estate investment risks for international equity funds, Mr. Walden’s experience in the field provides him a wealth of expertise, on which clients depend.

Mr. Walden supplements his construction and engineering experience with his background and passion for education, communication, and leadership. Mr. Walden has extensive experience in public speaking and organizational management, having served in leadership positions on several non-profit boards. With this experience, Mr. Walden has an informed view of organizational management, procedures, and protocol, which serves well to help clients navigate their own internal approval and reporting processes.
