
Background
Martina Sonogova is a Chartered Engineer with over 15 years of experience in the design, coordination, and technical assessment of building services systems.
Her experience is focused on mechanical and public health engineering, including heating and cooling systems, ventilation and air conditioning, domestic hot and cold-water services, drainage, gas installations, sprinkler systems, and smoke ventilation.
She has been instructed as an expert and has also provided technical assistance to appointed experts on disputes across multiple sectors, predominantly within the residential sector. Her work has also extended to the workplace, healthcare, hospitality, and infrastructure projects in the United Kingdom and the Middle East.
Her expert work has involved advising clients on disputes relating to design deficiencies, design coordination failures, commissioning and installation defects, material failures such as corrosion, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. She has supported quantum, delay, and disruption experts in construction claims and disputes and has been involved in matters progressing through adjudication, arbitration, and court proceedings.
Prior to undertaking expert witness work, she was responsible for mechanical design and for coordinating multidisciplinary design teams on projects delivered from concept through construction. She began her career in academia as a teaching assistant and researcher at the Technical University in Slovakia after completing her doctoral studies in Environmental Engineering.
