Guillermo Lopez

Mr. Lopez is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with over 12 years’ experience in capital projects and worldwide operations in Upstream Energy, Engineering and Construction. He specialises in facilities engineering, machinery and mechanical equipment used in power generation and process industries.

His areas of expertise include large rotating equipment such as gas turbines, compressors and diesel generators. He has experience in the specification of specialist process equipment for concept studies and large-scale projects. His work encompasses functional safety and risk engineering activities, including appraisals and project reviews. He has a particular interest in evaluating damaged equipment and developing solutions to mitigate economic losses.

He carries out forensic investigation of accidents involving mechanical equipment, including vehicles and consumer products. He investigates accidents resulting from failures in vehicles (including engines, transmissions, tyres, suspensions, brakes, and air bags), industrial equipment, and heavy machinery including cranes and lifting equipment. He evaluates damage to commercial and domestic property caused by escapes of water and applies Root Cause Analysis methods to determine the source of the escape.

Mr. Lopez is London-based with previous experience of living and working in the Middle East, North Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America. He started his career in the UK after he received his Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cardiff University.
