BACKGROUND:

Mr. Guillermo Lopez is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with over 12 years of experience in capital projects, construction, and mechanical equipment.

His areas of expertise include large rotating equipment such as gas turbines, compressors, and diesel generators. This also includes static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, valves, piping, cranes, and lifting equipment. He has experience in the specification of specialist process equipment for concept studies and large-scale projects.

Mr. Lopez’s work encompasses functional safety and risk engineering activities, including appraisals and project reviews. He has investigated accidents resulting from failures in mechanical systems, including losses involving industrial equipment and heavy machinery. He has a particular interest in evaluating damaged equipment and developing solutions to mitigate economic losses.

Mr. Lopez has experience in a range of complex projects and operations from design development to engineering, construction, and operation of offshore facilities, gas processing plants, storage terminals, and pipelines. He has competencies in construction management, cost and schedule analysis, estimating, contract disputes, errors and omissions, and managing project risks.

He is bilingual in English and Spanish and has lived and worked in the Middle East, the Caribbean, India, and North Africa. He has country-specific experience in the U.K., U.A.E., Tunisia, and Trinidad and investigated losses throughout the U.K., Europe, the Mediterranean, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
