Background
Mr. Stephen Lander is a registered architect in the state of Florida and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). He graduated from the University of Washington’s College of Architecture and Urban Planning with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. After college, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he spent 4 years serving in various engineering and architectural design capacities in Louisiana and Guam. His military career culminated in an honorable discharge in 1973 as a Captain. He achieved registration as an architect in 1978.
Mr. Lander’s 45+ years of professional design experience has included the development of major strengths in preparation of code analysis and project specifications, along with production of construction drawings and coordination of drawings among project groups consisting of engineers, architects, and drafting technicians. This required familiarity with various municipal, state, and federal construction requirements. He is experienced in architectural design/buildability review, value engineering, and analysis of consultant and contractor change orders/amendments.
He also possesses expertise in investigating and analyzing failures related to residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. This includes investigating building/foundation/roof failures; evaluating catastrophic damage caused by typhoons and earthquakes; and verifying construction compliance with applicable building codes, ADA requirements, and contract specifications. He is trained and experienced in slip-resistance testing and walking surface analysis. He is a manufacturer-certified user of the English XL tribometer since 2009, with biennial recertification training.
He is also a current member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
