Upgrade of Fuel Storage and Distribution Facilities

Background

La Collette Terminal was originally built in the 1970’s for the storage and transfer to distributors of the vehicle, heating, marine, and aviation fuel requirements for the island of Jersey. The facilities were in need of an upgrade due to outdated, costly equipment that could not keep up with modern demands placed on them by distributors supplying the energy needs of the island.

The major overhaul of the terminal involved the upgrade of fuel storage and distribution facilities through the creation of a 3-bay loading system with a new canopy to offer protection from the elements. The system incorporates new pumps, pipework, and a bespoke, computerised terminal automation system to control both the loading and delivery of fuel to the gantries, as well as providing emergency shutdown and security functions for all critical equipment.
