Background
Mr. Nathanael Perkins is a Certified Fire Investigator with the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications (ProBoard) and the Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP). He is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) through the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI) and a Fire Investigation Technician (FIT) with Motor Vehicle Fire Credential Endorsement (V) through the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI).
Mr. Perkins has over 19 years of service as a career public safety professional with extensive experience in fire, hazardous material, and emergency medical service operations. In both the public and private sectors, Mr. Perkins has been involved in determining the origin and cause for incidents with fatalities, residential structures, commercial structures, machinery, heavy equipment, and vehicles. He has worked on scenes with a multi-agency response and other complex investigations.
Mr. Perkins has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and continues his pursuit of education through extensive continuing education and professional development training. Through his work, he has developed positive working relationships with numerous local, state, and federal authorities. Mr. Perkins maintains a current working knowledge of the latest edition of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 921, Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations. Additionally, he has satisfied the educational requirements for all of the performance requirements as set forth by the latest edition of NFPA 1033, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator.
