Background
The project involved a double-deck road tunnel that connects Europe to Asia, significantly reducing travel time between the two continents. The tunnel was a major part of a larger 14.6 km (9.1 mi) highway project.
Services Provided
A series of incidents concerning a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) with a diameter of 13.7m were claimed to have resulted in delays to the critical path of the project. Rimkus was appointed as the independent delay analyst to objectively separate delays caused by damage from defect rectification and general project delays.
Utilising a collapsed as-built method of analysis, Rimkus successfully demonstrated that the TBM incidents had not actually impacted the project’s progress.
